It's been awhile

Wow, I really haven't posted since late September? That's hard to believe. Much has happened since my last writing.....lets see what pops into my head.

Trish returned to work in early October and we were lucky enough to have Sittie come out and smooth over our transition back to a two parent working household. Carson continued to attend daycare while Sittie took care of Annalea. Sittie did an amazing job of caring for Annalea and settling into her grandmotherly role. After ten days, Joyce had to return to PA and care for Granddad, which I doubt is as much fun as caring for Annalea. During Sittie's visit, Carson turned three and we threw a big birthday party for the little guy. Granddad decided to fly out for the weekend to join the fun. Grandpa John and Mama Kris came over from Spokane as well for the party. Carson really looks forward to his birthday. He is already discussing his cake for next year and thinks it should be a soccer ball. He somewhat understands that his birthday will not happen again for awhile, but he clearly understands that his birthday is after Calder's day and before Griffin's day.

Once Sittie left, Trisha and I had to hold on for dear life as we learned to manage life all over again. There have been some ups and downs, but we are figuring it out. Things have gotten a lot easier since my soccer coaching gig ended last week. I am now able to chip in on daycare pick-up duties and am not coming home late at night. However, Trish has been constantly watching the Phillies World Series games and not always pulling her weight at home.

Last weekend was of course Halloween. Carson was Spiderman and Annalea was a little pumpkin. Halloween had a whole different feel this year. Carson looked forward to trick-or-treating for a good week or so. He even had one of his best friends, Delaney, come over and join him in the festivities. A few of the homes spooked Carson and he clearly is not a fan of witches or loud spooky sounds.

Annalea has settled in really well to her daycare setting, which is the same as Carson's. It's fun to have Annalea and Carson in the same room together because Carson absolutely adores his sister. She is the only baby at the daycare and receives a lot of attention. In the past week, Annalea has taken to rolling over both ways and can now make her way around a room. This morning I put her down on her tummy and looked up a few minutes later; she had made her way across the room. Needless to say, we need to start taking more precautions that everything on the floor is safe for her to be around. Her sleeping at night remains inconsistent. She falls asleep quite easily, but wakes anywhere between two and four times a night. That part isn't so easy, but it will end sometime soon. Last night she woke only one time and we were grateful for that. Trish thinks that since we have just introduced rice cereal to her at dinnertime that she may be more full at night. Who knows, but we should emerge from sleep deprivation at some point in the next few months.

I will post pictures in the next few days.

Finally!

I want to go on record as saying that the Seattle Hurt household functions remarkably well with or without me. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and am totally in love with Annalea as I already was with Carson. My hat is off to two super parents, Trish and Charles!

Well Sittie, we did finally get that house cleaner. She came by yesterday for the first time!
